Breakthrough brain perfusion assessment using low-frequency ultrasound technology
SONAS®
A low-energy portable ultrasound device that provides an instant, non-invasive, fully-automated test to evaluate the perfusion of the brain.
Convenient
Test can be performed anywhere (including bedside)
Automated
No precision technical skills required to perform diagnostic testing
Unlimited
Repeat as many times as needed, and it can also be used for non-invasive intracranial pressure trending, using a proxy (SOFI)
Simple User Interface
Report results generated in PDF file format
CE marked in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2017/745 on medical devices. Not available for sale in the United States.
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
Diagnosis & Monitoring
SONAS is intended for use by medical professionals, including emergency medical technicians, medical imaging technicians, nurses, and physicians. A user qualified to perform an intravenous administration of the recommended microbubble contrast agent must be available when a test is performed. The SONAS Results Report is intended for use by physicians responsible for the assessment of patients.
Technology
The concept of SONAS is a portable, battery-powered ultrasound device for non-invasive brain perfusion assessment. SONAS® is used in combination with microbubble solution. Ultrasound transducers on each side of the head are installed in a headset. Following microbubble solution injection via a peripheral vein brain perfusion is assessed in comparable fashion (right vs. left hemisphere) using proprietary signal detection algorithms and based on bolus kinetic modeling.
Multiple Use Cases
Improving efficiency, cost savings, treatment, and patient care
Detect any abnormal brain perfusion, like brain trauma, and strokes
Monitor the healing of the brain and restoration of perfusion post injury/stroke
Clinically relevant PFO detection in cryptogenic stroke patients*
Instant assessment of secondary stroke in at-risk surgical patients (electrophysiology, structural heart, vascular procedure, orthopedic). If needed, allowing for instant secondary stroke intervention post-surgical procedure*
* Investigational use only. These applications are the subject of ongoing clinical trials and have not been cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, nor are they covered by a CE mark in the European Economic Area. Safety and effectiveness for these indications have not been established, and the device is not available for sale for these uses.
